I remember as a child attending my cousin's wedding and eagerly waiting for the moment where we got to open the presents. Seated amongst the bridal party, all of the kids were all curious and ready to open the presents.
After ripping a few gifts, us kids realized we could guess the gifts before opening it by the size of the box. I still remember those gifts... a table fan, a fancy salt and pepper set, a rice cooker, a bedroom bed sheet set, a second rice cooker, a second fancy salt and pepper set, an obscure table decorative piece, a third rice cooker, a set of multi-coloured tableware for six, a set of pink tableware for four and the remaining gifts were pretty much the same.
As a child, it seemed like fun. But now I can understand why my cousin and his wife did not look as ecstatic as us. I am sure they were secretly creating their own list as to which gifts to give away, which to store and which to keep.
That impression must have stayed as little did I realise then 26 years later that I would be founding a company, Chocolate Mousse, which allows bridal couples to receive the wedding gifts of their choice that will go perfectly in their new homes.
